Preventative Dentistry

Preventative Dentistry: Why Is It So Important?

Good dental health starts with prevention. We focus on preventive care to help your child avoid issues and keep that movie star smile. Dental prevention involves proactive measures to maintain oral health and prevent dental issues such as gum disease and tooth decay. This includes regular dental check-ups, professional cleanings, and home routines like brushing twice a day and flossing.

Dental Hygiene & Cleaning Appointments

Regular cleanings and exams are the heart of preventive dental care. During your child’s preventive appointment, a member of our hygiene team will clean and polish your child’s teeth and take X-rays as prescribed by our doctor. With our specialized tools, we are able to remove plaque and bacteria from surfaces of your child’s teeth that can’t be easily reached with a toothbrush or floss. Our dentists will evaluate x-rays and perform an in-depth oral exam to look for signs of decay, orthodontic concerns, and other hidden problems.

Dental Sealants

Dental Sealants are a protective barrier placed over the pits and grooves of permanent molars that physically block plaque and bacteria from entering hard to reach areas. Sealed molars are more easily cleaned and provide up to an 80% reduction in chewing surfaces.

Fluoride

With parental consent, Fluoride treatments are an important way to fight back against cavities and keep your child’s tooth enamel strong. During this quick procedure our dentist will apply fluoride to your child’s teeth to help remineralize the teeth and strengthen them. We will always consult with parents prior to fluoride application.
