Restorative Dentistry
Even with mindful prevention, dental cavities affect many kids and teens. If restorative needs arise, our team is ready to act with conservative, compassionate care. We have a variety of restorative materials and methods to restore the form and function of your child’s teeth. Treatment recommendations will be discussed to ensure that questions are addressed and doctor and parent goals are aligned. If your child’s treatment needs go beyond the scope of our expertise, we will make appropriate referrals to ensure your child receives the care they deserve.
Nitrous Oxide Sedation
Nitrous oxide (N2O), commonly known as laughing gas, is often used to make dental procedures a more comfortable experience. It can help reduce the perception of pain and anxiety associated with dental procedures. Nitrous oxide sedation also reduces the gag reflex, allowing for patient comfort and more successful procedures.
Nitrous oxide acts quickly—within minutes—and the effects wear off just as fast once the gas is no longer inhaled. This allows patients to feel relaxed during the procedure without prolonged sedation afterward. The gas can produce feelings of happiness and well-being, which can help distract from anxiety and discomfort.
Nitrous oxide provides a safe and effective way to manage anxiety during dental procedures, allowing patients to feel more at ease.
General Anesthesia
For more extensive procedures or for patients with extreme dental anxiety, we offer in-office general anesthesia services under the care of an anesthesiologist specially trained in treating children.
During these procedures, the patient is asleep and continually monitored by a board-certified MD anesthesiologist. The entire dental treatment plan is completed in a single procedure, eliminating the need for multiple visits. In most cases, these procedures are completed in under one hour.
